One of the most important ways that you can protect your pet is through the process of microchipping. This is a procedure that provides your pet with a unique method of identification. A small chip, about the size of a small staple, is inserted through the skin between the shoulder blades. It is a relatively simple procedure, and most pets do not seem to mind its placement.

Many pets become lost due to unforeseen or even uncontrollable circumstances. Something as simple as a gate or door being left open, or something as major as an earthquake or other natural disaster, can serve to separate them from you. Unfortunately, some animals are lost and never found, simply because they do not have a good means of identification. We recommend that all pets be microchipped!

We use the Pet resQ chips. Each chip is engraved with a unique number that can be read using a special scanner that the veterinary hospitals, as well as shelters use. These scanners are used nationwide, and these chips are approved for international identification.

As soon as you decide to have a microchip placed, you may contact our hospital and schedule an appointment. The procedure can be done at a routine wellness and vaccination appointment, during a surgical procedure, or simply as a visit of its own.

We will give you paperwork to register your pet. You may do this online at www.PetLink.NET. If you have any problems with this step, any one of our team members will be happy to assist you.
